Walmart is one of the famous and multinational American company that sells various goods and services at discounted rates. The main motive of Walmart is to enhance the sales rather than earning more profit. It employs about 2 million employees. Walmart is family-owned business and it is owned by Walton family. Walmart has over 8500 stores in 15 countries with 55 different names.

History

In 1945, Sam Walton purchased branch of Ben Franklin Stores from Butler Brothers. Walton focused on selling good and services at low price. At first it was very difficult to manage price and he faced many setbacks, but soon he found low cost suppliers that helped Sam to increase sales. 
On July 2, 1962, Walton opened the first Walmart Discount City store located at 719 Walnut Ave. in Rogers, Arkansas. Soon after this his business started rising. His discounted Stores became very popular.

Products and Services

Walmart is famous for various Customer goods and services. it includes all necessary good like clothing, food and other goods. Apart from this Walmart provides services like Western Union, Walmart Mobile services etc. Walmart is very concerned about their  customer and their expectations, so to look after this there is a department called Customer Satisfactory department. Walmart also have stores like Walmart optical and Walmart hearing aids. These stores provide wide range of optical and hearing aids for children to adult people. They are also at discounted rate so everyone find it very easy to afford them.

Walmart Contribution

Walmart is Multinational company and it has a lot towards contribution. Walmart has its own foundation and its key areas are Hunger Relief & Healthy Eating, Sustainability, Women's Economic Empowerment and Career Opportunity. 

Hunger Relief & Healthy Eating

In 2010, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation launched "Fighting Hunger Together" . This initiative leverages Walmart's size and resources to provide nutritious food and the Walmart Foundation's ability to grant funding to nonprofits that help elevate the issue.

In 2012 Walmart  was leading in donating cash and food in America.

Walmart is helping  student in below poverty regions to begin their day with Breakfast in the Class by providing them free meal. for example in Port Towns Elementary School in Prince George's County.

Sustainability

Sustainability means using the natural and other resources wisely and effectively. Walmart is helping the farmers with new and innovative ways to improve their farming methods and preserve the environment . Walmart is also helping farmers to grow healthy food and helping them in rising up. In this way Walmart Foundation are helping food banks nationwide save energy and feed more people.

Women's Economic Empowerment

Walmart is one of the leading company that is helping women throughout the world. Walmart help in providing employment to women in their production plants, in their farms and even we can find more women staff in Walmart stores than men staff. Walmart is providing a lot of Economic Empowerment to women. 

Walmart provides $1 million grants for women to develop their education opportunities at both the state and national levels.

Veterans & Military Families

Walmart salute America’s heroes. And are honored to have the opportunity to employ them, to learn from them, and to support them and their families in every way.

Through career training and job opportunities, Walmart is  helping prepare troops for successful professional lives both during and after their service in the military.

My Views

Walmart is really good multinational company. It is serving us a lot by not only providing discounted good and services but many more things like employment, sustainability farming etc. Apart from this  Walmart has its own Stock Exchange called Walmart (NYSE: WMT). It is helping people save lot of money. 

The main motive of Walmart is to "SAVE MONEY, LIVE BETTER".
